The Senate of the New Republic

The Senate is the lower chamber of the Congress of the New Republic and one of the central constitutional institutions of the restored Republic. Following the entry into force of the Constitution and the completion of the first senatorial elections of the restored era, the Senate was formally constituted as part of the Republic’s transition into full constitutional governance.

The official New Republic government site presents the Constitution of the New Republic as a foundational governing text and identifies the Congress of the New Republic as a bicameral legislature composed of the Advisory Council and the Senate. The same official legislative structure also presents the Senate Procedures Act as one of the key institutional enactments governing senatorial business.

Constitutional Restoration
The Constitution entered into force on Year 27, Day 104, restoring the Republic’s constitutional framework and reactivating its principal institutions.

Composition of the First Senate

The first Senate of the restored era was elected immediately following the constitutional restoration of the Republic. Five candidates were declared elected, with mandates distributed under the Senate’s staggered seat-cycle system. Following the resignation of Ahmed Samir before the opening session, Addison Floto took office under the applicable succession rules.
